Hello all,
I'm still awaiting some weigh-ins (approximately six people) who still haven't submitted their weight loss for this past week....which really puts me in a bind...so, we need a vote from those that did weigh-in...you can vote by sending it to my e-mail or facebook so not all see...should the people who didn't weigh in be eliminated from "the pot"? I am torn, because in the rules it says "MUST weigh in on Saturday"...although, I'm seeing progress and know that I'm helping people, and would hate to eliminate them and they not continue on with their successes....so I'm leaving this in your hands. Please VOTE by Monday by 10:00am EST(only those who weighed in on time).
**From this point onward, EVERYONE MUST weigh in by 5:00 EST on Saturdays. The ultimate winner, must submit a picture of their scale on the final weigh-in to win "the pot"**

ReplyDeleteI personally choose to drop out of this.
I can't be yelled at each week. I have way too much going on right now.
I will let Tom decide for himself if he wants to continue.

When we started this challenge we were told that we must weigh in on Saturday otherwise we would be disqualified from the "pot". My feeling is the people that did not weigh in can still have the benefit of this blog site and all the help that it offers, but not the "pot".
ReplyDeleteI hate having to face that scale every week, looking forward to seeing a loss after working so hard for one pound. I understand how it feels when that scale does not show the weeks worth of effort. But rules are rules and I think if we can make an excuse for not weighing in then we can make an excuse for gaining 5 lbs. After all isn't that exactly what has put us here in the first place. Now if some one can actually show proof that the dog ate the scale, I might rethink this whole thing. But as it stands right now, please play by the rules.

I think that if we started this challenge together, and we all knew if was going to be tough! WE all have to keep trying, I know it's tough not being able to loose all the weight at once, it is a process. We all have obstacles that keep us busy...work, children, spouses, significant others...etc...and we need to put ourselves first! We are important enough to be able to try each and every day to take care of ourselves...we are worthy! Please continue to weigh in, no matter what and make each day count! The scale may not say what we would like but you are trying and making healthier choices! Weigh in on Saturday and send in no matter what! Thank you Lynsey for finding articles, ideas for keeping us balanced!
ReplyDeleteOkay, I will weigh in on this...however, I was one of the 6 who did not get their weight to Lynsey on Saturday.
ReplyDeleteI love doing this challenge and I am very familiar with what my weight is because I weigh myself every single day. Yep, I said it! Now, with that being said...getting my weigh to Lynsey on Saturdays can be a challenge for me to do sometimes. This is actually the first week I sent it to her on Sunday, but I am in grad school ALL day on Satursday. I get up at 5 a.m. and I am in school til 4. When I get home, logging on to the computer is the last thing on my mind (no offense) so the fact that I would lose $20 (and possibly more) because I didn't get her my weight on time really irks me. If that does become the case, I would ask for a refund of my money.
I love Lynsey and I love what the challenge is about. I think there needs to be some accomodations and exceptions. Maybe not getting your weight to Lynsey twice constitutes losing the pot of money. The all or nothing mentality is a very dangerous place to be. Whether that is in life or in your weight loss journey. There needs to be a little give in both.
Just my two cents.

Okay so after reading these comments, I went to the "official rules" on Lynsey's facebook, under the notes. After reading these rules I thought it was important to share them again. Below are the rules, if you notice Lynsey has kept up on her part of the rules, it is important that we keep up on our part of the rules...if we don't then yes we should lose our chance at the "pot" just like the rules say, you knew what you were signing up for when you read the rules in the first place and you knew what you were signing up for when you signed up...now follow the rules, it is that simple. If you don't follow the rules at work, you get punished, because rules are rules, they are meant to be followed not broken. I think it is important to play the game the way the game is meant to be played.
ReplyDeleteHere are the rules:
1.Each week (Saturday) you must weigh in and submit your weight to Lynsey (smilyn22@aol.com or facebook, Lynsey McGuinness). Beginning Saturday January 2nd through February 27th, 2010 (8 weeks). If you do not submit your weekly weigh in on Saturday, then you will lose the chance of winning “the pot”.
2.Lynsey will record everyone’s weight loss, and develop a datasheet of the percentage lost. The percent will be shared with all in a weekly update e-mail on every Monday morning! (Note: not the actual amount of weight will be shown; the weight of each person will be held as a secret with Lynsey as serious as HIPA laws!) In addition, the people with the lowest percentage; will NOT be sent home(like the show)!
3.You will gain access to a blog created by Lynsey with several updates/motivation each week.
4.Requirement: Must be at least 20 pounds overweight (suggested by the mayo clinic).
5.Each participant must adhere to your own medical guidelines, following your own Dr.’s orders and I am not condoning massive weight loss in a short period of time. Please follow your own diet and exercise routine.
6.The winner will be the person who has the greatest amount of percentage weight loss within the eight week period.
I know that I was one that did not get my weight in this week on time but however I have had two kids that were sick and I could not get into facebook mail yesterday after trying several attempts, so this morning I was able to get on here and get it into Lynsey! I understand that if it were an every week thing that people did not get their weight in on time then yes that is when we should have this debate, in my case this is the 1st week that I did not get it in on time, I am truly sorry about not getting it in on time cause I could not get logged in on facebook mail to send my weights in. I do enjoy getting on here and see everything that lynsey has taken her time to get the information for us all I think it is wonderful that is for sure! I would let every one know that this is the last time if the weights are not in on time from now on then they would be dis qualified from the pot!
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with Melissa- maybe each person should be allowed to miss one time before they lose the pot. I realize that rules are rules, but I would like to think that this is a friendly competition in which we can understand that life happens and extend a little grace to each other. I would like to point out that I have sent my weight in on time every week, but it does not offend me that not everyone was able to get theirs in on time. I'm very busy too, and I know that it just as easily could have happened to me, just like it could happen to any one of you.
ReplyDeleteAll that said, thank you Lynsey for caring so much about this and for all the work you've put in!
Ok I didn't get to vote yet!!! (sorry was at work today didn't know what was going on). I also believe that we were all told before the competition started that we had to weight in by the end of Saturdays, or we would be taken out of the competition. To me, we are all adults who know how to follow rules. Therefore I think the rules made in the beginning should stick. Those who didn't weight in should be out.

Okay all....It's true....when the stove it hot...your told not to touch it. So, when your asked to follow rules...it's simple. BUT...I'm also a nice person and feel everyone deserves another chance once in a while. So, everyone who has weighed in counts this week....see my next blog. I know, some of you may not be happy about this, but sometimes we all deserve a break. BUT...from here on out- anyone after 5pm (I mean ANYONE) their weight will not count just for that week....NO ONE will be kicked out or punished...as we are all working towards the same goal, but can continue their weight loss journey. I'm sorry this has turned into this...I was simply just asking for all of your thoughts and opinions on this. This is the first series of this (and maybe my last) but it's a learning experience for us all. Here's to another week of focusing on positives...we are half way through this...let's continue to focus and lose weight....even slow and steady.
ReplyDeleteLynsey you truly are a kind nice wonderful person!!!! I am not mad about your decision...we are all working towards the same goal, we should all realize that. THANK YOU for working so hard on this!!!!!
