Snacks!

You've got to have them, right?!?!  (Before 8pm that is!)

I know that I have written before about snacks with Round #1...but, I just have to share with all of you what I just had.  I normally am not a fan of 100 calorie packs of anything.  Why?  Because they are good, but not enough, making me eat three of the bags to get my "fill" of that little treat.  Well, guess I what I just had and LOVED.  I think I may treat myself to this every day...ok, maybe once a week.  100 calorie pack of good ole Orville Redenbachers' Kettle corn smart pop.   With 2gms of fat, 4gms of fiber and 4gms of protein...it's not to shabby.  Of course, an apple would always be a wiser option, but this certainly made me a happy go lucky girl...so, I thought I would share it with all of you.

Another snack I have once in a while is J-E-L-L-O, gelatin.  With only 10 calories per cup (get the sugar free kind)....it's a fun anytime treat.  (Except as my Mom knows...this is NOT something to give me when I am sick- love you Mom!)

So, what are your indulgences?!?  The healthy ones at least!!! :-)

  1. honestly I have really been enjoying the special K protein bars...i get a little chocolate fix, along with lots of protein that I don't normally get enough of! Also I LOVE apples and peanut butter. I don't know who invented this wonderful treat, but they might be my hero! Again getting in some protein that I don't normally get in, along with a little fat, which isn't too bad considering it seems that everything I eat these days is low in fat. But I will have to try the popcorn trick. I love pop corn!

  2. OK, this is not a snack but it is something I have become ADDICTED to, broiled asparagus...don't make that face it's the bomb. I drizzle about a teaspoon of olive oil over the spears and then sprinkle a dash of garlic salt and then slide under the broiler for about 5 minutes, stirring once. Can you say "sweet mother of God" its just the best way to eat an iron filled veggie. Try it and let me know what you think. I crave them even more than something sweet to eat. Now that is saying something. Enjoy

  3. I just got done with 2 hours at the gym. My last class ended at 8 pm. Then I went over to my parents house to help them wrap up loose ends since they are planning to move to CO and leaving some time this week. When I got there, they were just starting to eat dinner since they had been too busy packing to eat at a decent hour. It took everything in me not to eat dinner with them. But I drank my Crystal Light and talked with them while they tempted me. I just have to say I am so proud of myself and I never would have done this if it weren't for the challenge to not eat past 8 pm.

Lynda and Stevie, both of your treats sound AMAZING!!!

  5. It's not the healthiest, but it is better than chips and dip...one of my favorite treats has become pretzels and cream cheese.

And Lynda - I was TOTALLY making "that face!" ;-)

  6. Ok, Aunt Lynda, I think I want to try that! But, does my stove have a broiler!??! You know me with learning all this cooking stuff. I don't think it does.

Rachelle, awesome job at working so hard- can't wait to see the results this week! :-)

Thank you all for sharing your snacks...I will have to try some!

  7. My recent favorite snack: Fage Greek Yogurt 0% fat. Topped with 2-3 thinly sliced fresh strawberries, 12 blueberries or 4-5 sliced blackberries, a sprinkle of Ezekial Golden Flax Cereal and drizzled with honey. It's heavenly! A great way to get your berries in and enjoy some healthy protein.
