Biggest Loser of the week...

...is Stevie!  Way to go Stevie!

I am not going to post who lost what percentage just because there are only three of you and that's kind of silly to do.

Challenge of the week....go to myfitnesspal.com and log all your food consumption....and water intake.  I know- tedious- but to me- that site is amazing to see how much you consume via carbs, sugars, etc....not to mention fat grams and calories.  I know you all are a part of that site already so there is no joining it- but I will ask to be consistent with that for the next five weeks.

Also, please continue to move and....drink that good ole' h20!

Water or Coke!?

WATER

#1. 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated.

(Likely applies to half the world population)

#2. In 37% of Americans, the thirst mechanism is so weak

that it is mistaken for hunger.

#3. Even MILD dehydration will slow down one's metabolism as 3%.

#4. One glass of water will shut down midnight hunger pangs

for almost 100% of the dieters studied in a University of

Washington study.

#5. Lack of water, the #1 trigger of daytime fatigue.

#6. Preliminary research indicates that 8-10 glasses of

water a day could significantly ease back and joint pain

for up to 80% of sufferers.

#7. A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short-term

memory, trouble with basic math, and difficulty focusing on

the computer screen or on a printed page.

#8.. Drinking 5 glasses of water daily decreases the risk of

colon cancer by 45%, plus it can slash the risk of breast

cancer by 79%., and one is 50% less likely to develop

bladder cancer. Are you drinking the amount of water

you should drink every day?

COKE

#1. In many states the highway patrol carries

two gallons of Coke in the trunk to remove blood from

the highway after a car accident.

#2. You can put a T-bone steak in a bowl of Coke

and it will be gone in two days.

#3. To clean a toilet: Pour a can of Coca-Cola into the

toilet bowl and let the 'real thing' sit for one hour,

then flush clean. The citric acid in Coke removes

stains from vitreous china.

#4. To remove rust spots from chrome car bumpers:

Rub the bumper with a rumpled-up piece of Reynolds

Wrap aluminum foil dipped in Coca-Cola.

#5. To clean corrosion from car battery terminals: Pour

a can of Coca-Cola over the terminals to bubble

away the corrosion.

#6. To loosen a rusted bolt: Apply a cloth soaked in Coca-Cola

to the rusted bolt for several minutes.

#7. To bake a moist ham: Empty a can of Coca-Cola into

the baking pan, wrap the ham in aluminum foil, and bake.

Thirty minutes before ham is finished, remove the foil, allowing the drippings to mix

with the Coke for a sumptuous brown gravy.

#8... To remove grease from clothes: Empty a can of Coke

into the load of greasy clothes, add detergent, and run

through a regular cycle. The Coca-Cola will help loosen

grease stains. It will also clean road haze from your

windshield.

FOR YOUR INFORMATION:

#1 the active ingredient in Coke is phosphoric acid.

It will dissolve a nail in about four days. Phosphoric

acid also leaches calcium from bones and is a major

contributor to the rising increase of osteoporosis.

#2. To carry Coca-Cola syrup! (the concentrate) the

commercial trucks must use a hazardous Material place

cards reserved for highly corrosive materials.

#3. The distributors of Coke have been using it to clean

engines of the trucks for about 20 years! Now the question is, would you like a glass of water?

or Coke?

Sunday, Sunday.....

...oh, wait, I think the song says, "Monday, Monday"...well, by the time you all read this- it will probably be Monday- ha ha!

Thank you all for weighing in and joining in on this weight loss journey.   We will continue to weigh in every Sunday- be sure to let me know your weight so we can see WHO the Biggest LOSER of each week will be.  Best of luck to each and everyone of you- I know you can do this- you have done it before- let's get moving and go!

As you know from the past- this is a lot more fun when more people are involved and leave comments- so if you have a moment to leave a comment/encourage, ask questions, etc, please feel free to.  Yes, I'm the "Jillian" of the group- but this is also YOUR group and I want you to feel a part of it- or even a leader of it...so, please don't hesitate to throw in your two cents or comments.

For this week, I would like everyone to work on portion control- and best choices.  Hungry?  Want a snack?  (DONT GRAB A SNICKERS!)  Pick one high in fiber or protein so you can stay fuller longer (and hopefully drop a duece with the fiber).    As for best choices....I didn't say limit yourself- so if you go get ice cream- GREAT...but make a good choice- do they have sorbet- and is it a small?  It's filled with calories.  There is also a place I heard of called Zak's (I think) in fairlawn (Mom, you know this place) and they serve yogurt soft serve and it's to die for- flavors to pick from like stricklands with a lot less calories.  Again, I haven't been there.

Also, for this week, I would like to make you all feel like me...pregnant!  Ha ha!  Well, at least peeing aspect.  Please be sure to drink 1/2 your body weight in ounces of water.   This will help you have more energy, less hungry, and help your metabolism as well as other organs function properly.  Remember, if you get thirsty- you are already dehydrated.

Here's something I found about drinking water and why's it's important....
1.It’s essential to our survival, we can’t live without it
2.Helps with weight loss – ZERO calories, no fat, no sugar, no carbohydrates
3.Acts as an appetite suppressant
4.It can increase our metabolism
5.Keeping hydrated will help stave off fatigue, and help maintain energy levels
6.Flushing our wastes and bacteria from our system and keeping kidneys healthy
7.Reduces the risk of colon, breast, and bladder cancer
8.Helps alleviate headaches
9.Keep skin moisturized and nourished
10.Aids in digestion, and can help prevent acid stomach and constipation
11.Can lower the risk of a heart attack
12.Keeps muscle cells hydrated when exercising
13.Transports nutrients and oxygen in our blood stream to help keep us healthy
14.Helps avoid sunstroke (I'm really not sure what this is)
15.Will help lower blood pressure
16.Will make some medications work faster and more effectively

Welcome to week ONE....let's stay focused and remember YOU deserve this- and YOU can do this.  :-)

Here we go!

Congrats to you for wanting to do this- yet again!   A few things for this round have changed- read below and please confirm that this is something that you really want to commit to.  If you do, then I am here to help you.  If you don't, I won't judge you- but just ask that you don't agree as it would end up being a "waste" of my time.  (I know- that sounds mean-sorry-it's early).

1.  There will be NO COST for this round.  The winner will be the one with the most percentage of weight loss.
2.  I will be "paid" by your successes.  However, I don't want you to lie if you gained, we ALL have those weeks where we do EVERYTHING we should and more- and gained.  All I ask is for you to be honest with me- and yourself.
3. Have fun with this- it's a lifestyle change- and something we all need to do.

For this week- there will be NO weighing in.  There will be NO CHALLENGES.  All I ask is for you to begin your own weight loss journey on your own.   I ask you to try to be a bit more fit- finding time to exercise-even if it's only 20 minutes.  I'm asking you to become more aware of your food intake- not asking to limit anything- just be aware of proportions.  Finally, I ask that you find the time to MEET with me to set up a list of goals.

On Sunday, July 31st- I would like everyone to weigh in and submit their weights to me- either e-mail or facebook or text.  From there- we will run this contest for six weeks-ending September 11th.

Please let me know if I forgot anything or at anytime if you have any questions!

Best of luck!

Lynsey
